Hopefully you were able to participate in the prayer call this week. It was such a blessing!! Dr. Trenace Richardson of Zion Church was the facilitator. Before prayer, she began a devotion that focused on Psalm 42, verses 1-5.
In this scripture, the Psalmist likens his thirst for God to that of a deer panting for water. In verse two he says "my soul thirsts for God". Dr. Richardson shared two personal declarations to maintain her soul's thirst for God.
1. My soul thirsts for what I need, not for what I want.
She says that we should be so desperate for God that nothing else will satisfy us. We should be so desperate that we begin to spend more time in prayer, more time in devotion, and more time reading His word. That desperation will encourage us to follow God's lead in every area of our life.
2. My soul thirsts for His presence, not just His presents.
Dr. Richardson declared that her soul desires to bask in the very presence of God. When in His presence we don't have to wonder if God is there, we know it and can feel it. Furthermore, the presence of God is more than enough for us. Our soul is satisfied even if God isn't giving us a gift or a present. We would still express our sincerest gratitude just because God has graced us with His presence. When our soul thirsts for God, we grow from asking God for "things" every time we pray to just being grateful to be in His presence.
How great is that? Take a few moments today to just meditate on this devotion. What are your thoughts? Post them here!
Love Always,
Metina
